Option A requires a computer with either Windows 95 or higher, and needs 10 MB of free space on your C:\ disk.
Before proceeding please carefully read the installation instructions and note any system requirements or cautions. This is especially important if you are running the Windows Vista operating system.
When you click OptionA.exe (see download link below) you will be asked if you want to run the program from where it is or if you would like to save this program to disk. Option 2 involves a large file (approx. 8 Mb) and could take over an hour to download, especially with a slow modem.
Saving the program (OptionA.exe) to disk will allow you to install the program at a later time by simply running OptionA.exe from the directory in which you choose to save it (using approx. 10 Mb more disk space).
When you run OptionA.exe (either now or later), several files will be installed onto your system. The main program will install in the directory C:\Program Files\Nysprl\Option A. The following text files will also be placed in this directory: installation instructions (readme.txt); the Visual Basic (VB) eForm User Guide (UserGuideA.txt); and specific electronic filing instructions for each DEC Annual Report type (eGuidelines26E.txt, eGuidelines26AE.txt, eGuidelines27E.txt and eGuidelines25E.txt).

Windows Vista operating system—This software has been tested on Vista and is compatible with that operating system. Please review the Installation for Vista Users section in the readme file before installing on Vista.
All users will need to reboot their computer after installing Option A. Windows 95 users will need to reboot their computer once in the middle of the installation as well.
The User Guide describes how to create new reporting forms and the eGuidelines explain the NYSDEC reporting requirements and format of data to be entered into each Annual Report type.
The PRL eForm will ask you to enter or verify some contact information that will be placed in the file C:\prlYYYY\identity.txt (where YYYY represents the current year). You must include this file with any electronic data submissions.
